Default How’s it’s going at Hawaiian?

Hi everyone. Long time lurker. Regional captain waiting to one day head back to Honolulu with the family. It’s been really quiet here lately. Any news on furlough recalls, increased flying, and potential first officer hiring? I know flying may be quite different from the mainland and market recovery will be different. How’s it going? Any insight is much appreciated! Mahalo!

letter of agreement prevents any furloughs until January of 2022 with no paycuts or reduction in min. Pay. All NEO and 717 captains on LOA are being brought back early. The rest of LOAs are expected to be returned to active status at their scheduled end date of LOA. All poolies were dumped and need to reapply.

schedule is increasing and tourism is returning more rapidly that expected. Hopefully the trend continues.

That is good news! I was wondering the same thing. I read in the news they were furloughing “an additional 99 pilots”. So I guess it’s not true.

i was one of those that was thrown out of the pool. I actually had a class date but it was cancelled, luckily just before I gave my notice to my current company. Crossing my fingers I can make it the second time whenever that will be.

Thanks a lot for for sharing! Sounds like good news.I fly for a regional mainland and look forward to coming back to islands one day. That is the dream for the wife and kids as both sides of our family are both from Hawaii. Keeping my fingers crossed for any hopes of hiring in next few years, would be awesome to join the team!

2023 earliest for hiring according to flight ops. We all know plans change, so hopefully sooner. We don’t have the attrition that Legacy carriers do and growth plans are muted with international travel uncertainty. Fortunately the business component is minuscule.
