Yeah that's how it's going to be.

The Islanders need to decide between isolationist covid hysteria and their economy.

Amen to this.....The Hawaiians, those people always on the dole, are loving it....No white men muckin up their beaches...Its good...
For the rest of the people that live and work and Pay Taxes in Hawaii it is a nightmare...
I have no plans to ever go back....Prefer the industrious hard working Mexican people and will spend my money there...

maybe, but we recognize it’s economic AND healthcare destruction vs just economic. Sad story, but our leadership will ask itself if it can secure federal handouts 💰 and we all pray we receive it, Based on the needs of the community, Economy is hurting but the issue is the quality control of the Covid negative enterance, how we police:/monitor the “quarantiners,” and how to create an Aloha guest experience. Aloha is incredibly flexible in its use. A genuine show of care The beauty will outlive us all. At HAL we hope it’s the same players, but we are much weaker than the big boys. Our fate is truly locked up in tne government and we hope for the best. Covid is coming, but if it scares the hospitals enough, the local gov will shut it down.

My gut tells me it’ll be hell and bankruptcy but HAL will live on with a name after merger. I don’t believe the airline can pay the debt burden and compete with its challengers. It’ll take another body to see our value (investors, BROKE/BROKEN local government, or the community). If we die on the vine, all we can hope for is high/early seniority grabs at upstarts (less money obviously) But the next “ JetBlue” will Fill the the void.

I was told that HI only has 6-7 ICU beds total on the islands, they are not set to handle any kind of large scale medical emergency let alone a pandemic.

That would be a consideration. The military facilities on the islands can provide many more than that. Way more if they send the west coast hospital ship.

And Only two ICU beds are being used for COVID patients and two COVID patients are on Ventilators.

7 ICU beds? Where do people come up with this nonsense?

I thought about this as an option awhile ago. Send out a Navy ship or charter a Mercyship to provide the surge capacity
