HAL has a signed letter by all 4 mayors and the governor when they applied for an exemption. The effort was to limit the spread and protect our islands. Another big plus was because we are a small carrier, 1/3 of our grant was 100 million which was not used in the 30% loan calculation. So we only have to pay back 20% of the total received. I’m sure we’ll gradually resume more flying by June and feed the outer islands.

Would be the best thing for the industry as a whole, but the revenue sharing terms and red tape would be an absolute nightmare. Carrier consolidation (M&A) would also be beneficial, but no airline is gonna have the money for that in the near term.
