Very small segment of the overall industry.
One must admit that if the ABSOLUTE MOST important things to you are raising a family and job stability, there are better professions than becoming a pilot, but every career has it's exception.

If you were a pilot from Hawaii, that statement would be absurd. There has always been some form of inter island flying opportunity that accommodates this lifestyle. Pay at a legacy is better than the rest of course.

BTW I was a pilot in Hawaii for many years.....just not at HAL. I loved living there, except for the fact that IMO the High schools demanded that you send your kid to private school which was going to be tremendously expensive for 3x kids, so I decided to return to the mainland for my kids HS years at least.

Yes that is why I said INDUSTRY..... an inter island pilot in Hawaii is a very small segment of what is otherwise a very large industry of commercial pilots, most of whom do not have schedules extremely conducive to raising a family.
Inter island flying in Hawaii is the exception to the norm, possibly Allegiant as well, although it may be more of a gamble that their flying would remain stable for a whole career.
Great that HAL is trying to showcase their large % of female pilots. Merely demonstrating how prevalent it is becoming will help find the future generations of females who previously just considered it an impossibility.

This is a free society as well as progressive times. Women know they can be pilots, they don’t need to be told what to do.
At almost any major airline you can have great family stability if you don’t jump from plane to plane at the first opportunity. Live in base, get senior and bid turns. Home every night and work 8 to 10 days a month.
