Any insight on numbers or competition with everyone else hiring?

There are a few crashpads run by HAL pilots, and some new hires band together to start their own pseudo crash pads for training and commuting purposes.

Latest vacancy bid shows 119 new hires. I would imagine competitive minimums are similar to past windows, if know know, if no know, then maybe no can.

The first year of pay is shameful. It is 20-30% lower than regionals.

Be that as it may, Hawaiian doesn’t need so many pilots that the ones dissuaded by first year pay prevent the company from achieving its hiring goals. The majority are regional refugees and locals anyway, whose current employment is a poor long term prospect.

I agree that it's atrocious. How can one expect to live on that type of income? With that being said, Hawaiian doesn't want people using this airline as a stepping stone. Hawaiian attracts applicants that are from Hawaii or ones who really want to move here. This is one of their ways of weeding out the ones that don't wanna be here.

Any news from when the window closed on the 10th?

Nothing in my inbox yet. Fingers crossed

Before applying to HAL, you need to take a hard look at what your values are, and determine if Hawaii and HAL’s values match. If you think California and New York are managed well and their polices are inline with your beliefs, Hawaii will be your “paradise”. If you want to pay high state taxes to support the corrupt politicians, watch HAL support every transgender/gay parade, and present your proof of vaccination to go to a restaurant, gym, etc, then Hawaii and HAL is the place to be. The company puts on a welcoming, “take care of our ohana” front, but the reality is HAL is nothing like it once was.
