Short logout timeout

I find this site to have a very short logout time set. I sometimes find myself being logged out while reading threads. That is quite annoying.

Today I took a while to type a rather lengthy posting to a thread about using electronic devices on aircraft. I have some very relevant experience about that subject.

When I went to post it, it said I was not logged in and prompted me to log in. I logged in, and my posting was lost. It was nowhere to be found.

Can the log out timer be lengthened? Otherwise some wisdom my be lost again in the future.

Not sure if it's cookies from the server or my browser or what, but it happens to me sometimes too. One thing I've noticed is that if I just log back in the post hasn't gone anywhere and I can post it, or edit it.

After I clicked on the post button on the bottom I was taken to a log in screen. After logging in I was taken to the usual main screen. My message was no where to be found. I even tried going back to see if I could find it and copy it. But it was nowhere.

From now on I will limit myself to short messages as it appears the moderators don't want anything longer.

I am never logged out. I'm using FireFox and the APC cookies are set to be persistent. As far as the mods wanting to control the length of posts, well, that's just crazy talk. ;)

Hope you find a solution.

Yes - it is a moderator scheme.
(There is a difference between moderators and Administrators who have the types of rights to change some site administrative items)
Lengthy and informative posts do more harm than good!
Logic and facts are nothing but the devil's tools to sew dissent!

For what it is worth - I'm always logged in too and my only problem is that after a long period of time on any particular thread it reverts back to the 'New Posts' page, it may say that the following threads have not been updated and the ability to go directly to the newest post is not available.

Your concenr has been forwarded to the site Admin's attention.
Hope you can find a solution too.
