Cannot post a pole

When trying to post a pole, after clicking submit, the screen just turns white.

Tried this last night and again this morning.

If you want to post a pole you must first dig a hole that is deep enough to give proper support. Put a couple inches of gravel or other rock to ensure drainage and the put the pole in on top of that. Use quikcrete cement and fill in around the pole. Use a level to make sure the pole is straight up and down. Give adequate time for the cement to set and you're done. You've posted a pole.
Now if you want to post a poll ... I have no idea.

If you indeed checked "yes" in the "Post a Poll" section on your "New Thread" dialog, it should work. The admins may have placed a minimum requirements to make polls but I see you have enough posts and have been around for a year so I doubt it's that. But a totally blank screen could also stem from browser issues. What browser are you using, and make sure it is up to date.

I've tried it in both Firefox and Internet Explorer now.

Internet Explorer gives a little more information- it is an error. Server is returning an HTTP 500 Internal Server Error. If you check the box to post a poll, it will fail with this error.

Since this is a test forum, I recommend you or anyone else also try and post a poll to see if it will fail, which it will.

Thanks.

Looks ok on my end.

Ok, I was able to post a poll here as well but I cannot post a poll over in the regional forum. That is where the problem is.

Cubdriver 03-20-2014 07:36 PM

Hmm, well I started entering a test poll over there to see if it would let me do it and it did. Other users have posted other polls in Regionals recently and I see you have access to the professional forums, so I am not sure what is going on.

Yes, I was one of the users who recently posted a poll in the regional forum but cannot do so now.

I cannot even 'preview' the post if the checkbox for the poll is selected.

Edit, I see what the problem is but I don't know why. If I change the subject line of my post it goes through. There must be a word or words in the subject line that are not allowed somehow. I think the words 'part time' are somehow flagged.

Well I managed to get a poll up, http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/re...part-time.html

However, I could not make the title "Part Time Airline Pilot" work without error. When I changed it to "Part Time" it works for some reason.

Hi there,

Thanks for bringing this bug to our attention and for doing so much to figure out what is causing the problem.

It appears that there is something strange going on when using "Part Time Airline Pilot" as the thread title, either for a thread or for a poll. I checked the character limits and tried using the varying parts of the phrase - it's that specific phrase causing the issue.

I will notify our techs of the problem.

Weird I know :D

The issue would likely be uncovered in the apache error logs. It's a 500 error so the issue is likely in file permissions.
