Quoting a previous Quote

Folks,

A quoting anomaly was pointed out to me in the Wide body Captain Retirements thread located in the Delta TA Sub-forum.

If someone quotes a straight post it appears to work correctly.

If you quote a previously quoted thread it will take the correct post that you intended to quote but the name of the poster will not be the individual that you quoted but the person that he quoted.

I am not sure this is how it is supposed to work and I know this is confusing, so if one of the Admins could look at the above mentioned thread, posts number 48-53, it might be easier to see the problem.

Thanks Scoop

Can you provide a few links to examples?

No anomaly. It's a Delta's poster's problem.

VBulletin "tags" come in pairs, and Xray678 edited his post to remove [/quote] tag, screwing up the pair. Anyone who quoted him/her or anyone who quoted a poster who quoted him/her, ad nauseum, repeats the error, and therefore the misattributed quotes.

A quote consists of [Quote=Username;PostNumber]Quote text[/quote]

Delete the parts in brackets, and things get fouled up.

This is what I thought was happening, but without seeing the original I didn't want to say for certain.

Thanks Tony. :)

This is how a double quote should look.

I know. :P When I replied the first time the back end of the NOPARSE didn't populate so I improvised.
