PenAir is the best place to work in Alaska
pay is decent especially if you stick around for a while.
SAAB captains are making around $80,000 a year depending on how much you fly
upgrades are hard to predict but do happen
you have to spend time in the outstations but it is a great experience and you really learn how to fly
still use ndb's and compasses and your watch real flying

That will teach me to be sarcastic, my apologies.

Grumman Goose
Saab 340
Metro III
Piper Saratoga

I worked in AK about 10 years ago, and PenAir was a good place then, so I assume it has remained so.. Be careful up there as there are a lot of crap operators.. You meet people in the bars one night and read baout them dead on a mountain trying to fly some junk plane in IFR and icing days later... Stick with the good reputation companies where you can jumpseat, have a life and enjoy AK.. Under the right situation (airline) it can be a great time; was one of the best experiences of my career..

fo's make 22-24 thousand first year then each year after its about a 2500 per year increase
if you switch to the cherokee and caravan you jump to about 38-40 per year
upgrades depending on expansion adding a 8th SAAB this winter so three more captain upgrades
