Question Dilema

I recently interviewed with an FAR 121 supplemental, ACMI, heavy jet operator and and a popular FAR 135 cargo hauler flying 12,500lb+ multi-turbo props as PIC; and have been offered both jobs and they both start on the same day. Now my problem is which one to take??

I want to fly the heavy jet internationally, but it's F/O time and I'm not sure how long of an upgrade it will be, but then again I have an opportunity to get some good turbine PIC time in a multi-engine plane flying out of my backyard.

I need the PIC turbine time, but I really want the international experience.

What would you do??

What do you really want to do? (Fly night domestic turbo props or heavy Intl)
Are these Heavy ACMI folks like, World or Atlas ot Gemini? If so, I would go with these folks. The Pay is probably better, the Flying is probably better ( and you will fly international). Plus you will get a seniority # and you will get a chance to upgrade someday, and who knows, you just might get Merged into a bigger list...........ABX, UPS, FedEx.

Redeye,

I WANT to fly the heavy Internationally, but I NEED the multi-PIC turbine under my belt to be able to apply to UPS, FEdex, SWA, etc...

The companies you mentioned are not among the one I interviewed with, but they are a competitor. I would mention their names but I fear that if any of these companies find out about my situation then I may not have a choice to pick from.

Thanks for your feed back!

There is NO substitute for TURBINE PIC. If your goal is to work for SWA, UPS, FedEx, Alaska or AirTran, you need turbine PIC. If you want to just fly big jets on long-haul, be prepared for 4-5 years until upgrade. Your decision.

I agree you need PIC turbine. Without it you will never get looked at by UPS or FedEx. That is my problem. Took a 121 job after 3 months of making captain at the comuters. My PIC turbine time is about 300. Not enough for brown or purple. I do have the heavy international experience but do not meet the mins to apply. The choice is clear. PIC turbine until you hit the 1000 mark then jump ship to get the heavy time. It is all so clear now. Of course if I had waited to get the 1000 pic time I would be on the street now. Amazing how 10 months seniority will do that.........
