I worked at Aero Safety Training in Lincoln Park, NJ. Pretty close to NYC. Also try looking at Morristown and Caldwell. Both are Class D airports and have multiple flight schools.

The fleet is excellent. They are a cessna pilot center so the fleet is praticallly new. When I was there our oldest plane was a 2000 model 172S. I think they just purchased a 172RG. The website is www.lpawings.com. The student load was average. I think I had about 6 students going when I was there.

Mac Dan Aviation at CDW (Caldwell, North Jersey). I worked there back in the day. Things I like about this airport/company is its location, they are an FBO, towered airport, and they have a charter department you can move up into.

Also my old boss is still the Chief Pilot of the Flight School and was a GREAT guy to work for!

Hope this helps.

American Flyers in ISP is closed

it's true that american flyers @ ISP has been closed, for some time now i believe.

the only other schools at ISP is midisland air, unless someone knows of any others?

FRG has quite a few. nassau flyers, lfacademy, air east?, suny frg, to name a few...i'm sure there are a couple of others at frg.

there are quite a few in nj as well. many small airports that have flight schools >>>> princeton, linden, caldwell (i think the dpe marcus buttikofer has a school there), morristown, lincoln park, the flying w, red lion, allaire, etc.

just look on the ny sectional, find an airport and google it. you should get the flight schools that are located at that airport. or look in your afd for some info as well.

white plains-HPN....i believe panarama flight academy is still there.

i'm sure they're all hurting for instructors now....and will be for quite some time.

good luck

Century Air, in CDW, blows any flight school out of the water. Best maintained aircraft I have ever flown. You may not like the owner, Rich Greene, but he knows ho to run a flight school and was like #14 at American, the man knows his ****:)
