Put it this way, I am on the top 3rd of 767 CA list and I am really considering an offer at Frontier, I would burn rubber to Jet Blue especially if you want to live on the eastern side of the country.

To each his own, but the undeniable unfortunate reality is we have crap management, crap maintenance, crap schedules with grueling day night swapping 24hr overnights, 17 days away plus one or two commute days equates to being GONE for 19 days per month, and no hope of a fair contract in the forseable future. 5Y is truly 3rd tier, I think any opportunity to get out would be a wise move. I don’t see how it’s possible Jet Blue could be ‘worse’ than our situation.

Just one mans opinion.

This is like asking “should I go to Mesa or go to UPS?”.. I’m not saying it’s a stupid question, though /s

I am sure I am junior to you and I have NEVER done 19 days on the 767. Even on the 400 I have NEVER done 19 days.....and yes I commuted on a day off to get to work to ANC but never on the last day with Z -7 living in CA. Even on the 767 with all DHL trips ending in CVG so early and Amazon trips ending in the morning I have never commuted on a day off getting home.

Jet Blue is a no brainer IF you want to fly pax, live on the East Coast, want more pay(for now), but you are going to pay for it with a jumpseat to work, if you want to fly pax, 4 days on and 3 days off and so on...

My rationale for Atlas is that coming from the regionals my QOL improved but I am banking that we'll get a contract worth making me stay. 767 lines even for being junior on the seniority list are mostly built to 16 days. The down side to that is that even though it may be built to 16 days, you are off so early on the last day, rig stops and is pro-rated so your line value is much closer to 15 days of pay. But, I'd rather be home so it works for me. I had a day off stretch of 12 days. I am on for another 11 but those stretches are much more palatable for me...now I am just rolling the dice and hoping we'll get a good contract. It will not be fedex or UPS. It'll probably be very similar to what we have now with greater pay rates and perhaps a bump in retirement and maybe even some sort of pay protections...but that is pure speculation on my part.

As far as MX, I can't speak to that other than to say with all of the Atlas ops personel hanging around prior to departure, the MX guys certainly seem to want to please them. I am not sure how one would quantify the statement saying that "it sucks"; Does that mean the work is shoddy? Or is there an implication that they cut corners? Not in my opinion.

Oh, and uh....YES, the day night swaps suck.

Jetblue’s new TA will let you bid a block of 17 days of reserve for people who want to get all their flying done in one stretch. Also, PBS let’s you bunch all of your flying into 2 weeks with just the minimum 30 hours off after 6 days on for part 117, if you’re bidding a line. Quite a few people do this because they commute from overseas or just want the 2 weeks off.

Another reason to go to JetBlue and leave Atlas! (and I really wish some of these Atlas blowhards would go to JetBlue....sorry JetBlue pilots...you can have 'em). :D

But really, flying in one fell swoop....I'd bet guys on the ACMI fence would see that as a tipping point rather do that than the alternative 4 on...3 off.
