Any new news on the upcoming hiring for Spirit airlines. The latest I heard was they are supposed to begin hiring in the next couple of months.

A buddy of mine there says YES they are preping to hire. Id love to work for them but I can not afford to work for 33 bucks an hour.

My father is a senior Pilot at Spirit and he told me to they will probably towards the end of this years or into the Spring of 2006 with the route expansion into the carribeans and South America plus the transfer of the MD 80's to the A321 and A319 alot of movement will be taking place

Any idea on where in South American they are planning?

Freightcowboy 10-01-2005 10:29 PM

I'm not really sure he hasn't eliborated on that issue. Basically they are competing with American Airlines. I guess AA is the only one that offers service down there and Spirit is going to give them a run for their "money". Basically, where AA goes Spirit is gonna go. If that helpls

IronWalt,
Not that it would make much of a difference, but the current 1st year F/O pay is 39.50/hr, increasing to 40.00/hr on 01/31/2006. Second year pay under the current contract (after 01/31/2006) is 51.96/hr.
Time and a half for working day off (open time pick-up etc...), double pay for junior assigned.

The current contract expires 01/30/2007.

Thanks for the correction. I had read somewhere that they were doing 33 an hour in the first year.
