Digital log book question

Hello all

Approaching my second regional interview, the first time I took all of my log books starting back from day one (15 years ago). Its a very old logbook with tearing pages etc :( in other words I like to keep it in the safe and not touch it.

About two years ago I converted to digital logs, when I did this I made a 'make up entry' for all the time previous as a large block. Inputted the totals and since then have been maintaining both paper and digital in parallel.

Do you think it would be acceptable to show up to the interview with digital printed a bound log books with the make up entry in there.

2 years ago when converted I had aprox 350 TT, now at 1200 TT. Multiple checkrides and type ratings since.

With that little flight time I would just take a day and put all the entries into the digital log. I've kept both for most of my career but only took the paper logs to interviews.

Its about 12 years worth of flying, lots and lots of .5-1.0 flights

Get whatever protective case you need for your paper logbook and bring it to interviews. Pelican makes good cases in all sizes.

I did the same thing when I converted and it was over 7 thousand hours....it took me 4 months sitting at FBO's several hours a day. Now my digital and paper logbooks match perfect.

With that said....I know people who have converted the way you did and are now at United. So at least they won't care...I doubt a regional would care at all.

This is exactly what I did, and I've never had an issue at interviews (multiple 121, 135, and the FAA). I do bring my original paper logbook with me just in case they want to see it to verify the carryover entry in my printed electronic logbook, but I've never been asked for it.

One piece of advice I will give you based on the experience of a fellow interviewee - make sure when you print your electronic logbook that you SIGN every page. I use Log Ten, and their template includes a spot to sign, so that makes it easy. Someone I interviewed with once was sent out to the lobby to sign his pages, and needless to say it was an embarrassing moment for him.

Good luck with your interviews!

Buddy of mine said most the regionals he interviewed at looked at the first then last page of his logbook to see he had all the hours. I keep both an elogbook and paper, but I only plan on bringing the paper books, the elogbook is just for quick resume updating and redundancy.
