No. They want the interview to assess your current and up-to-date qualifications. Not hire somebody based on years-old info.

Typically for mil you can publish an app whenever as long as you accurately indicate your availability. You can start class on term leave, so your avail date could be after your expected term leave start date. Typically it seems they'll interview mil six months out.

Also airlines do not give "contracts" to individual pilots, they just hire you and that's in no way binding on either party. You can no-show the class date with no notice (not recommended), and they can canx the class date with one days notice (they did that when covid started). They can also furlough you out of new-hire ground school and that's happened before too. Airlines are known to hire right up until the very day they start furloughs. If you actually show up on day one of ground school, you get a permanent seniority number, even if they furlough you before lunch on the same day.

Airlines tend not to think that far ahead lol. That's how we got in this mess to begin with.

My background…mil guy, flying heavies, about to retire next summer. My availability date is early April 2023. Went live on my UA & SWA apps on 1 March 22. Haven’t heard anything from UA yet, but have with SWA with an interview this month. (So about 9 months out). We have guys in our unit though who have CJOs from AA, and aren’t available until summer of 2023.
