Default Anyone know about JPATS

Just curious if anyone knew what was required and involved in flying the JPATS aircraft for the US Marshals office, do you have to be a Marshall or are they contracted companies?

I spoke with one of their pilots 2 or so years ago. He was a contract pilot. I think it was in a MD80. Don't know much else. I did see Con Air though.

I wonder if I called the Marshals office if they would have info on what there hour requirements are and what else they require. Just curious it seems like it would be a good job thats a little out of the norm.

We did sub-service for them at an airline I used to fly with. It's the only pseudo airline that has an almost 100 percent on time performance. If yu are on the big jets, you start and finish in OKC the same day. I don't know about the small jets.

www.usajobs.gov

Pays well, but if you don't have 5-10 veteran's preference points on the app you won't get the job. I have 5 and well exceed the mins and didn't get a call last year.

They are getting 737's and have them based around the US. Not everyone will be based in OKC. PHX, AEX, OKC, and SJU are a few places I remember offhand.

Not trying to promote another site, but if you have a membership over at *************.com, I know that one of the members over there used to fly for JPATS. They might be able to answer some questions if you post there. I know that there has been a discussion about this topic on that site.

USAJOBS - Search Jobs

Current position being advertised on USAJOBS.gov

If I don't pass my checkride I'm considering throwing my hat into the ring

Of note - this one seems to require DC-9 type rating - obviously targeted for a particular position.
