Canyon, A friend of mine was suggesting I check Scenic out for employment but I just read the top here saying 700TT . I'm at 266 TT and don't expect to gain much more except for currency hours (money). whats the lowest TT you've seen a pilot come on there with? got any ideas on a next step to set myself up for a hirable resume there? here's my situation. live in HI, family in CA, TX. have a house in FT. Worth.
266TT
60MEL
180PIC
2 actual
out of currency at the moment.
getting out of the navy in 2 months (enlisted aircrew/loadmaster on GIV)
wife homeschools but will work PT to get us through lean times ( no degree but VERY sharp girl/ administrative type)

I heard someone at Scenic got hired with not much more total time than you and a single digit number for multi...probably to get whatever he/she needed for the mult-engine addon. Send in your stuff to Scenic if you want...will give you a better chance than not. Might even surprise you. We need people.

Not really. I didn't have a job flying when I interviewed. I was "current" but wasn't flying regularly. They asked me how I stayed knowledgeable though, which wasn't too difficult.

221, Thanks for the gouge! I'll do that. meanwhile, getting ready for a long overdue bi-annual. Can you give me a ballpark figure of what an average FO paycheck looks like and what a 2 bedroom apt in the area rents for? I can figure out the rent thing if you tell me where domicile's are.

The FO guarantee is $1,296/month. Right now and the last couple months have been pretty busy and we are flying a lot. 100-120 hours a month. Most FO's are getting around $1800-$2000/month. Most people live in Henderson, NV. We fly out of Boulder City, NV. Rent for 1 bedroom is anywhere from $600-$1000/month, just depends how nice you want. Not sure about 2 bedrooms but it's probably a couple hundred more or so. Not sure how rates are in Boulder City...haven't looked there.

I know there's a class at Scenic on the 20th of this month, however my interview isn't till the 23rd. Does anyone know when the next class would be? Do they even know? Would it be at the end of Sept.??

Probably 3 weeks after the 20th. Usually after ground school which is about 3 weeks and the group moves on to the sim...the next one starts. So maybe the 10th? That's how it was when I did it way back when.

221, Is somebody refered to as JCB still there? I'm reading the Scenic forum and LMAO at some of his/her replies to questions. Blunt truth teller, that JCB! Thanks again for the info. Should I be studying ATP for the written portion of the interview process there or some other question bank? I stopped at the GC with my family on our way to visit wifey's folks in Sonora CA. We were really excited about showing it to our boys (then 9 and 7). We blind folded them in the parking lot and walked them to the edge(they had no clue what we were going to look at. when the bandanas came off, they were like "oh, cool." and walked around looking for rocks to throw to the bottom. I think there goal was to fill it in, haha. We planned on coming back one day to camp along the Colorado in the canyon. Maybe this will be or chance. the boys are 12/10 now. probably still want to fill it in.HAH!

Yes JCB is here. I don't think he replies anymore on there though. Yea it's pretty entertaining...he's like that in person too...pretty funny sometimes. He'll probably be in on your interview too. The written is from the ATP. 35 questions. Can only miss 8 I think. It's the #1 killer for most people. Don't worry about the math questions and most figures. Cool story. You will have plenty of time for canyon stuff if you get over here. You can take them up even. They will have a lot of work to do to fill it up though, that's for sure. Everyday I notice something new or find out how far this canyon really goes. It's crazy.
