Southwest Nov. hiring update
A new class of 20 new-hires started today. Two more classes in November: 20 on the 16th, and 20 on the 30th.
There will be two classes in December, and three in January-- all containing approx. 20 pilots each.
Southwest is now interviewing non-737-typed pilot applicants; about 20% of interviewees now don't have one. If selected, you have 6 months to receive the type rating.
Interviewing 18 per day, Monday through Thursday, through December 15th.

Southwest pay, domiciles, fleet, etc.

Have you been part of a layoff/furlough in the past 5 years?
I am sure there is no shortage of B737 type holders.
The question is - what is the current SWA new hire profile.
All of us furloughed major airline guys who would love to go to SWA and forget about that sad chapter of their legacy airline career (like me at AA),
have to answer the following question on the SWA website:
"Have you been part of a layoff/furlough in the past 5 years?"
Who cares? Why are they asking?
If yes - does that make me a less qualified pilot that someone who has not? Do they really think thank anyone would go back to their defunct major airline after salvation at SWA?
Recently I hear of minimum time Beech 1900 guys who get the call as soon as the complete typetraining.
Let's hope for Sir Richard to save us...

About 4 months ago, I called a friend that does interviews to ask what the average interviewee had hours-wise. I was told that the average was about 1900 Turbine PIC. Hope that helps. I have no clue why they are asking if you've been laid off but I wouldn't assume it to be negative. Perhaps you move up a notch as you might be hungry and appreciative for the opportunity. I'll ask around and find out.

Thanks SWAcapt,
clearly shows what working for a company does to your brain:
You, working for SWA look at it positively, as a chance to move up.
Me, working for American Evil Airlines as just another attempt for the company to spread negativity...
I wish I was you.
