I actually looked into that briefly. I think there's about 7 different places across the U.S. where you can be based, ATL being one of them. I was curious about the travel aspect though, cause it seems they would have to travel a lot to test out the different airports and could be there for several days. Also, a Captain I flew with about a year ago said his friend did it and that there's an engineer or 2 in the back getting readings while the pilots do the flying. Your flying has to be pretty accurate, or the engineers get miffed. Money seems okay. I saw a job posting for starting pay in the $70's. It seemed you needed prior experience cause they expected you to be able to jump in as the PIC and do the work. Postings for the SIC paid less, but don't remember exactly what the number was.
