AE Corporate Culture

I'm looking at sending AE an application and am aware of all the headlines that have emerged over the past few weeks. I'm trying to get a good feel of what the work environment and corporate culture is like at Eagle and how it has been affected by the recent developments. Any insight?

I recently left Eagle before the sale announcement, but I can speak to the general conditions at Eagle. If you don't mind being an FO for a loooooong time, then it is not a bad place. As for the future being better or worse, I think a lot depends on if, and how, the divestiture of Eagle occurs. But until that becomes clear, speculation is speculation.

As for corporate culture, it is not the best. But then is any airlines'? I think AMR sees it as being beneficial to have every group mad about something, or perhaps worried about something. You will be a number there, but depending on what base you are in (e.g. LAX or LGA) the chief pilots really are willing to help you out. Generally speaking, great pilot group, and I know I learned a lot flying with some great guys (and gals).

Be prepared to fly a lot on reserve. But you may not spend much time on reserve also. Staffing has not been good for some time at most bases. Before I left, the company basically admitted that they were not upgrading as many people as previously planned because of a lack of ability to fill the right seat with new people.

Good luck.

Ill second that. You can learn a lot from the pilot group and they are a great bunch, but the corporate culture is pretty awful. Honestly, I cant think of many other companies with a corp culture as bad as AMR. And of course, staffing is very bad. We cant keep people at the company.

I too am considering shooting them a resume, but would like some clairification as to what is so terribly bad. I have heard for a very long time that Eagle was a great company. Sure every company has its flaws and the upgrade time isnt super attractive, but as a whole is life decent working for them?

Eagle is a good (relatively speaking) regional airline job, upgrade and new uncertainty notwithstanding. Good crews, good equipment and maintenance, good infrastructure, decent QOL with some seniority, and average pay/bennies. Who knows what we'll look like in a year....

Other than speculation is there any word on what the Republic situation probability is looking like?

Lets get this thread going again and back on the main page. It needs more postings as I am in the same boat as BoilerWings.
