Kalitta Hiring
Connie's got a new hire class of 16 f/o's scheduled for April. There will also be a captain upgrade class and -400 initial class starting. Not the best or the worst place to be. I'm sure more classes will be coming up since rumours of another -200 to be added in the future.
|
What are the min's? I've heard its more on the "not so bad" side to work for - lots of opportunities - even if you want to be an FE
|
They like to see around 4000 tt. Heavy and international really help as do internal recs. Not a hard number just what they seem to like. No fe's for the next class as we are heavy on them right now.
|
Seen guys getting with them with 1500 TT with no PIC turbine
|
I sent them a resume recently and got a response saying to apply when I hit 4000. I currently have about 2000.
|
I've heard that 3500 is enough time to get on. Probably not much lower than that, especially if you don't know anyone.

I see some major hiring in the near future. With the 400 being a reality, the previously short crew staffing will be critical in a very short time.
The possibility exists that new hire FOs will end up in the 100/200 fleet or the 400. The time requirements may need to be adjusted downward, but the strength of the applicant's experience, interview and sim eval will heavily weigh on a person's chances of getting hired. If the flight time standards decrease, the better-than-average folks will have a real advantage. Mediocre folks with low time won't stand a chance. Upgrade times will be shorter as well. A guy is in upgrade now with just about a year on the property. That will probably get lower as well. Get your stuff in! Also, FEs are disproportionately high. There still aren't enough, but based on the pilots, they won't be hiring FEs until August at the soonest. No talk about parking any classic airplanes, and the rumor is that another one is being negotiated for. |
More from a newsletter that I receive. I can't vouch for any of the information contained herein. "Don't kill the messenger".
XXXX: Please consider the following for your Retired Pilots Communications Network................... Kalitta Air is currently hiring pilots. Just a few of the details of note: They employ "Home Basing," that is your clock starts when they buy you a ticket from YOUR "home airport" to join an airplane or crew somewhere in the world. There is no central base. Starting position is 747 F/O but upgrade is expected within 12-18 Months. (probably much closer to 12 or less with all the new aircraft coming. They own 19 747 classics (mostly -200 with -Q and -R Engines). Just signed a deal for (2) 747-400's coming in May of this year and perhaps 5 more within 2 more years. This is on top of a deal for (2) 747-200's signed just days before. Lots of guys from Cargo 360 pilots have come to Kalitta. More Delta guys being interviewed for the April class right now. There are 79 crews and they need nearly double that to 120 by the end of the year just to keep up with current flying. They are 50% +/- scheduled cargo and the rest "ad Hoc" or on call charter. To check the scheduled runs and typical flying go to www.Kalittaair.com and click on schedules. For example, they serve Newark-Bahrain, daily, Newark-Amsterdam, Santiago-Miami, Bogota-Miami, Hong Kong-Anchorage-Chicago, Honolulu, Los Angeles, etc. They hire over age 60, they really like LCA experience and overwater time. Currency is not important and no need to be rated on the 747. They fully train and type for the operation. It's not the old Kalitta of the 90's (of AIA and Kitty Hawk fame). That went bust and Kalitta re-bought the certificate back in 2000, purchased two 747's for cash and has never looked back. It is a class act with a brand new training building, the best classic simulator in the world, top notch instruction and a great flight management department. They are hiring now for an April class and classes for the rest of 2008. Contact person is the Chief Pilot, Captain Paul Bishop and the number is (734) 484-0088. Thanks for getting the word out. "More Delta guys being interviewed for the April class right now."
Guys leaving Delta for Kalitta? Is that for PFE, guys who retired early, or just propaganda? Either way I wouldn't mind flying a 747 around the world. |
