Part 91 jobs for low timers?
Hi guys
I'm trying to help a friend look for a job. He's got a fresh commercial multi and is looking for a job that doesn't require a CFI.. like aerial survey/mapping, traffic watch, pipeline patrol, skydive, tour flights, etc. I'm certain there are plenty out there, but they are kind of hard to find. Last year when I myself was looking for a part 91 job I found plenty of listings on climbto350.com. But in the recent months I haven't seen any survey or traffic watch or pipeline patrol jobs on there. Please let me know if you know of any who are hiring! He is willing to move around the country. Thanks.

If your friend is having trouble finding a gig, I'd suggest he invest the time and money in a CFI certificate. This way he can gain some experience while getting paid to hang out at the airport. He'll be surprised with the connections he can make just by being around airplanes and aviators all day.
In addition, some of the best-paying jobs available in general aviation right now are CFI jobs, if you are willing to move.

Why does it have to be a 91 job? Try Grand Canyon Airlines. I think they take low timers...and then he can build Multi-Tprop time...and if he doesn't like it after a few months he can boogie. I heard that they are pretty laid back about that.

Well I only included "part 91" in there because most of the time-building jobs for low timers happen to be part 91. Part 135 usually require higher mins (even for VFR, it's 500 hrs, right?) or something like that... although I did come across the Grand Canyon ad, so I will definitely mention that to him, thanks.

I dont understand what people have against instructing. I have just shy of 500hrs given. I hated it about 75% of the time yes, but my skills as a pilot were the sharpest they ever were. I look back on it now and am very glad I did it even for a short period of time. There are jobs out there yes where he can get hired with very low time into a jet. or into a 60K pound turbo prop carrying freight outta Michigan.

I don't have anything against instructing...I have all 3 tickets and used them for a year and a half...and will have to start using them when I upgrade! Hahaha! It will be like teaching in the Seneca alllllllllllll over again...except with paying passengers in the back seats...
Oh boy...

In any case, skydive gigs are starting to pop up for the summer. Keep an eye out for those. Any particular area in the country?

I did inform him of a possible skydive gig, I don't think he cares where he has to relocate.
