Default Request for Air Japan Interview Gouge

All,

I'm a refugee from a U.S. major, a retired ANG Viper driver, and am now flying for a low grade non-sked - but at least am driving to work. I've got an interview coming up with Air Japan through Parc and am looking for any specific information about the process.

Also would greatly appreciate informed commentary from anyone currently at Air Japan as to the AJX/Parc contract QOL and commuting to Narita.

Thanks in advance and cheers,

Felix

Gentleman, I will try to give y'all some info... I can only speak about the 767 as the different companies will have different process..(ie 737, Dash 8)

PARC should provide you with the SIM profile. Most of us feel that the Sim is very heavily weighted, so study that profile. If you are flying "new" glass cockpits, the whole speed bug thing for flap setting will take you a bit back in time.

The interview will be conducted by 6-10 people, all of whom are VERY NICE.. I mean that.. It is very low pressure from the company side. They will ask a few questions about you, your family and previous work etc. I had virtually no technical questions... They seem to be quite interested in how you will get to Tokyo to start work.. They continue to hire Americans, so they must not be too worried about us.. Plus the rumors of pos-space Biz class tickets persist..

Finish the interview, and head to the sim.. Try to relax and have fun.. While they need to see you fly the jet well, they also like to see a bit of personality.. Depending on the position you interview for, you will have a local Captain in the other seat, and at least 2 more guys in there watching (from the Company). You will wait for all of the PARC guys to finish, and head back to the hotel.. You will be called by PARC late that night and told the results: Either go to the medical or thanks for playing..

Sometimes the process varies slightly so don’t take this as Gospel. For instance, in my case I took the Medical first because of limited time slots at the clinic..

The medical is known a bit daunting, but when you look around in the company lunch room, you realize that they are not recruiting Olympic athletes!

I have been out here for 3 months now and while the training period is LONG, the people and my classmates make it livable and actually enjoyable.

Checkout the Asia thread on PPRUNE and you will find a lot of good info in the ANA JP express thread.. Has been going for a long time.. Further, if you need anymore info PM me..

Cheers and Good luck.. Look forward to seeing you online..

PS I just realized the above post is 1.5 years old.. Oh well, hopefully tis will help someone!

Hi!

I am interested, but I probably won't apply unless you can live in Japan, with housing/schooling, etc., like Emirates or Cathay do, or I am home based, as in positive-space tickets.

I'm not very excited about trying to commute on my own to Japan.

What is the latest as far as commuting or living in Japan???
