Default Kuwait anyone?

Hey Folks, I hear these guys are hiring like gangbusters. New start-up owned by a royal family. A320 fleet. Service staring Jan 2009. Great pay, like 15K/mon for FO's. Hope this helps a few... Good Luck!

Default Wataniya Interview

Chow,

I've got an interview with them next month. The sim is in Cairo and is similar to a PC:

Takeoff / SID
Steep turns followed by an "event" to demonstrate ECAM procedures
Crosswind landing
Takeoff with engine failure
SE ILS to a missed
SE landing
Visual circuit (time permitting)

I think the pay for a FO is closer to US$13K per month based on my calculations, but it depends on how much fluctuation (if any) there is in the exchange rate. Pay is in Kuwaiti Dinars which is a very strong currency. I will feel much better about being paid in KDs than USDs given Kuwait's enormous proven oil reserves, budgetary discipline, monetary policy, and trade surplus.

Cheers.

Saw a newspaper article about them in Kuwait Times. Looks like they're going to be successful.

Kuwait is a dry country. No beer. And I bet you could find some really cheap crash pads near the border of Iraq.

Yeah although the pay is good, being stationed out of there wouldnt be my ideal job. I never have a good feeling during that long taxi ride from the airport to the hotel compounds.

So the Dinars are actually being used now? Reason I ask is because I bought into those things a few years ago as an investment when they weren't worth anything really. Anybody know anything about the exchange rate of dinars to dollars? God I hope i'm a rich man.....

Today's exchange rate for the Kuwaiti Dinar (KD):

1 KD = 3.73762 USD

The Kuwait Central Bank pegs the value of their currency to an undisclosed basket of foreign currencies. They used to have a fixed exchange rate with the dollar, but smartly changed that in recent history.

On the other end of the spectrum, here's Iraqi Dinars (IQD):

1 IQD = 0.000854262 USD
