I would check out Management Association for Private Photogrammetric Surveyors (MAPPS) - Welcome. You can look for companies near you or for current job openings, but I am not sure how many would post for a pilot. Considering the times, I would suggest talking to a company about starting as a camera operator and then being switched to pilot when the job opens up.

I worked for Keystone Aerial Surveys for two years. I started as a photographer even though I had no prior photography experience. After eight months with the company I was moved to pilot. I think the experience in the back definitely helped me as a pilot. I was more aware of what the guy in the back was doing and I could take the new photographers up to help train them.

Do you guys at Landcare really have to share rooms??? I hadn't heard that. And how long you guys been over there cause I used to work with a few pilots that had left there for Keystone???

Hey, 1Wrangler,

Have you checked w/ Kucera International in Ohio? You have any Navajo time?

Things are definitely tight and getting worse! This economy is causing layoffs at some of larger companies.

Good Luck!

US Pilot had a listing for a seasonal position in a seneca1 doing ariel photography. It runs approx june till oct, but might be a hell of a way for a low time guy to earn some multi pic time...I did speak with the guy who runs the show, and he seemed straight foward, but the job was in California...and he prefers local, or somone willing to stay out there for the contract. check the posting as of 1-21-09 he told me he had only recieved about thirty responses...
