Default I'm looking for crappy pay and long hours

I know this is "airline" pilot central, but I am going to be looking for a flight instructor position soon. I was just wondering if anyone knows of any forums like this one where flight instructors come together to B.S. and post questions and comments etc.. I will be graduating from UND with my CFII in August and I was hoping to chat with some people in the industry. Also, if anyone has any suggestions on where to job search, interviewing, or anything like that it would be greatly appreciated. I read these forums all the time so I just want to say in advance; from what I've gathered teaching my instructor, I do enjoy instructing and I will definately do my best to provide quality instruction. I couldn't agree more with the people on here that tell others not to instruct just to build hours if they are not going to enjoy it.

We will hire you. If you are good with computers and can type then we can put you to work in the tech industry. It's not a flying job but it is experience in the business world.

Havn't seen too many forums for instructors only, but we usually float aorund "Flight instruction" forums anyway. I got a job at my local College (The one i trained in) If that dosent work for you, check monster.com. I always see quite a few flight instructor jobs on there.

If your looking for low pay and long hours, College / University flight school is what you want.. If your wanting laid back with more pay (but less flight hours) Pt 61. Local flight school is what you want

The AOPA board is a great place for CFIs and students alike to hang. It has a CFI job board, too. That's where I found my first CFI gig.

True! Currently, I work for CMSU and the pay sucks but the flight time is great. This year alone, I racked up 500 hours and recently was hired by a regional. Send me an email and I will give contact info for CMSU if your interested. We need instructors! ([email protected])

Thanks for all the good information. As far as the crappy pay and long hours comment I made, it was meant to be a funny attention getter. If I can avoid it I would rather not have the crappy pay, the long hours is actually alright since I am trying to build my time. Thanks for the job offer IronWalt, but I couldnt see myself doing anything other than flying at this point. Pilot_468, I would definately be interested in hearing more about cmsu. I went to their website and looked it over but they dont say anything about their fleet or anything about their employment/hiring process. Also, I checked out the area on Flight Star. How do you do your instrument training when the nearest ILS or VOR is 40 miles away from your home base? Does the airbase let you guys/gals do low approaches at their field? The airbase thats close to UND lets us shoot approaches to their field so I was just wondering.

Yah, the base lets us shoot approaches! Well, we have 16 '01 skyhawks, 2 dutchess, and 3 cutlass. We have to 2 glass trainers on order for delivery in August. With the distance, that shouldn't be a problem cause you what to build time, right?
