Jobs?

Hey all,
I'm sure some may be interested, another fire season is coming up and their may be some jobs out there on the contract side. Try Northern Commanders, Kolob Canyon, Eagle Cap, Airwest, and Courtney Aviation to start. There are a number of company's we contract with for Air Attack aircraft and pilots. The job is mostly turning circles so the fireman sitting next to you can direct other aircraft and relay info to the ground. You will be away from home and there is no guarantee you'll fly but hey beats working. I will pay a little more attention to some of the company's names this summer and pass it along, most are good to work for and maintenance is usually good, the contracts are written that way, it's interesting enough without worrying about the machine. Most folks burnout( no pun intended) on the hours, 12 days on 2 off chasing around the West. If your lucky to get one of the exclusive use bases there are some folks that have a 12on 12off. This is not for time builders ex: my old base flew 130 hours last summer and I almost broke 200 in 4 months
I wish you all Luck and if this helps you get a job should you be in RDD stop by the Forest Service hanger an have an Otter Pop.
Brad

You're best bet is to find a tankebase, that's where most fire pilots congregate.
I know there's one in Jeffco most or off contract now but the Mgr would be able to tell you who the company is, when in doubt you can usually find your local Forests number in the Gov section of the phone book. Start with the Forest Aviation Officer or Helitack foreman /superintendent.
Most of it will be leg work and phone calls and nowadays more butts than seats however rarely does a year go by without a fire.
Good luck

I don't know about jobs there unless there is a fire.
They built a new air tanker base at La Plata co. airport a few years ago.

Do you live down there? Me too.
