T-bird is quite a reputable school here in the twin cities...one of the bigger ones in the metro. I don't know of anyone who has flown this particular firewatch before though.

Out of pure curiosity (and a slightly related topic), how does one go about getting into the Aerial Firefighting profession...??

Lots of time and cargo operations normally. You're talking about very high gross weight takeoff's, varied by shifting CG's upon release of the anti-fire load, whether it be water, chemical, or aerosol.

The key to getting into aerial firefighting this who you know and being at the right place when an opening arises. There are very, very few positions out there and very little turnover. The operator i work for has hired 2 new pilots in the last 3 years (over 800 current remuses on file), so it is very competive. Both people hired had many contacts in the industry. Keep in mind there are only a handful of operators in the U.S.. Flight time in the low level environment (less than 500 ft) is desirable along with a well rounded flight background.

You can try checking out the Air National Guard also. I think they do a lot of the aerial firefighting ops.
