Stand in line chief, I've been on the street since November '08, other than getting an Olympic water-treader position in the XJ hiring pool, I have heard nothing from anywhere else.

Go find a job outside of aviation for a while, I am doing computer course design and programming until I get recalled. Making about the same as a second year FO at a 'better' paying regional and home with the fiancee every night. There are good jobs outside of aviation.... now about that Riddle debt you stuck yourself with...

I'm a ERAU grad myself, and if I were you I would contact the university to see what kind of position they could offer you. If they they don't have immadiate openings, they might be able to give you some leads. Contact the Career Services Office for Alumni:

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Career Services staff list Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Good luck brother.

And how is he supposed to get currency and 500 hour's in type if no one will hire him in order to acheive this .
Kind of like applying for a job and they want experience , so how does one go about getting experience if he cannot get hired?

If you can't find a flying job, LOOK IN ANOTHER CAREER FIELD. Yes, it is slim pickens, but there are other fields that are hiring. You just gotta get over the "flying or else" attitude.

I'm joining the ANG as an air traffic controller. You could look into that. Military experience will look good down the road and you can keep pursuing flying later on while getting leave for the guard. Plus, when the boards come around, you can apply for a flight slot, too. Good luck

Thats why you don't run out and buy a type when you have no use for it. Work you way through the ranks (flight instructing, fly checks, turbo-props,regional airlines) then when you have decent experience you get hired, let the airline pay your type and hopefully fly it before you get furloughed! I laugh when people think a type entitles them to command an aircraft!

I honestly don't know if there is or not I'm guessing it might be a little higher than the FAA, maybe 35, just to throw a number out there. Best bet is to go talk to your local recruiter and check.

I try my hardest. Unfortunately I've been laid off from an airline before even getting to fly for one So I'm coming up with creative ideas that will make my flying resume kick *** while still keeping flying as a main career.
