Finding 'hidden' employers
 

Hey does anyone know how one would go about finding those potential employers that aren't big names?? For example if I wanted to find a list of all the 135 ops in my state, or possibly even the part 91 jet jobs in an area?? any thoughts on how to do that/resources????

No it doesn't, part 91 operators aren't listed anywhere that I know of but you can go to landings.com and under database check to see who owns a plane and go from there. Good luck.

If the 91 operators are NBAA members then you might be able to get a copy of that list.

That is a great question. I am glad there are people smart enough to realize that there are other operators than those only listed on APC. Many on this forum just scan airline websites, then groan that there are NO jobs. If you want a job, figure out where you want to work, go to the specific airports website, then find the opeators on that field, you will find alot more than you think.

I once got a flying job by simply printing out resumes and letters of recomendation, then driving around a local airport and dropping them off at local flight departments (corporate and charter). You would be surprised sometimes, a positive attitude, a clean appearance (wear slacks and a dress shirt when dropping off your resume, meet the employees) and you may receive a phone call from were you least expected it.

Small flight departments want to hire somebody LOCAL!!! If you live in Utah and email a resume to a small department in Michigan, they probably are not interested, i know this first hand. Start out local!

I usually go to Airnav.com and type in aiports im interested in and it gives a list of operators and services they provide. Doing this thankfully got me into the job I'm in now.

You hit it right there, and funny enough, Utah is the state I'm looking in (not the biggest aviation state, but I KNOW there are pilots needed here...just have to find out WHO and WHERE )

In Utah? I'd be looking at medivac jobs.

Ute: Throw your resume around both at SLJC and MASLC. Both have tenants that operate 91 departments. Also there's a small 135 operator at #2, along with a couple 91 jets last I checked. OGD and PVU also have some departments. Just start knocking on hangars, there's alot more than one would think. Only problem is that there's less movement because of the uncertainty.
