Hanging on by the fingertips! Did your contact tell you how many there were? I'm sorry to hear the bad news guys.

I got a little slip of paper in the mail that had the “eligible placed on the selection list” checked. . I think that’s a good thing? No other explanation. I applied for a 10 point preference.

Yep...I'm one of those 10 point guys too and got the "selection list" letter. I hope I can get in.

Was told there were about 20 10-pointers and 60 5-pointers...and alot of 5 point claims with no DD214s. I was told no 5 pointers made the list, apparently that is not the case.

Thanks for that update Cleco. I had initially heard that there were about 70 applications with Veteran's Preference - so that mirrors your information pretty good. As I said earlier, I had heard that 5 pointers would probably not be selected because of the numbers. Also - for those asking, I heard that the rough number of people needed was 5; basically one for each office (except for Anchorage), but I was also told that that could change based on what they received, interviewed, required AND liked.

aeromike49 - You said that you did NOT have 10 points preference correct? But you did have 5 points and you got the slip of paper in the mail that had the “eligible placed on the selection list” checked?

Good luck to all and let's keep the thread updated as well as we can for the benefit of all, especially those looking to reapply the next time. It would be nice if this thread was as informative as the CBP thread is for people looking for good steady jobs.

It was my intentions to keep this thread as informative as possible by actually starting it. I really like to hear back from anyone that does secure a job from applying to this job via this thread. It would make me feel better knowing someone actually got the job, just to prove these forums do benefit others. Whoever does send me a PM.

Only 5? I guess I'd better brush up on some regs and procedures.

Let's all hope for more - but that was a word. Like I said - things could certainly change and I'm hoping they do - in the direction of MORE obviously
Yes - thanks for starting the thread hurricane. Btw - for others to search, there are about 4 others threads that you wil find in the 'Hiring News' forum in you search the Archives for FAA, Flight Check, Flight Inspection, etc... It might give you some idea about previous timelines.
