Default CFI jobs Redding CA

Was on a long turn in Redding, CA the other day and strolled on down to the jet center to hang out. I guess IASCO has opened up a pretty big operation there for training foreign students (Shanghai Airlines?). I was chatting with a few of the instructors there and apparently they are growing and hiring. Have a bunch of Cessna 172's and some seminoles/duchesses. Pay is $19/hr. I have no other information or knowledge of this place, but thought I would pass on the info.

Take Flight with IASCO!

Be real careful with those people,

I interviewed with the Napa facility a few years back, and turned them down. They just were getting brand new barons and bonanzas, at the time, for instruction, with 2 king air "b" s, that had tbo'd hot sections, and were for sale, sitting on the ramp.

They come over from Asia 12 to 15 at a time, and get this..........

you cannot fail them, AND, it is your sole responsibility to get them fully qualified with both the FAA and host country CAA requirements, to go to type training whence your are done. Add to this ridiculous responsibility, that you are told that you are responsible for the student's shortcomings , by IASCO, the host country CAA, and the FAA, who are always around these facilities checking up on you.

All for $19/hr.

Thanks for posting some good job intel. Sometimes you may get the feeling that no good deed goes unpunished but I'm sure someone can use this information.

BTW. I know of a lot of people who have worked at IASCO APC and have gotten plenty of flight time and a living wage. A lot more than one can say about many a flight school.

I have no affiliation with IASCO....

You may be accurate in the experience you extract from IASCO, but all things considered, Napa County's poverty level is considered $30,000 or less. Rentals in that area are high, 14 hour days instructing (8 in aircraft), and the ensuing paperwork?

As one of the first lowly CFI's to open the redding location (also wrote the instrument syllabus), all i can say is this.

Currently from the buddies i have up there, CFI's have 5 students a piece, 19 dollars a flight hour, but still minimum for ground and "paperwork". A/C are really nice and the duchess's are in pretty good condition. Redding is a small one horse town with a pretty descent scene, if your in to meth. Also use to bid days off, but the upper managment were taking the good days.

Not affiliated with IASCO napa, which is owned by JAL.

And i think they have a "team" in china trying to get more airlines on board, but this is your typical, we can do it for cheaper by screwing our CFI's operation. But hey it better than SIERRA ACADEMY!

Does this mean you're paid for ground and paperwork on top of what you're paid for flight hours?

True, but when it comes down to it, what is the worth of a CFI? I think thats where it all starts. If i do the same thing cheaper than the other CFI ill get more bussiness, then you adopt that personality trait and it follows you into the regional/major world. And yes beggers can be choosers, but if you fly for what your worth, wont that bring back some of the professionalism that the flying world is losing?

I'm just saying, when you're being paid for doings things on the ground, that's a benefit. I don't get that at my CFI job.
