Job Title: Pilot Training Courseware Developer/Graphics Design
Opportunity Type: INTERNSHIP
Division: Flight Operations

DESCRIPTION OF INTERNSHIP:
· General
This position develops and implements aircraft systems training programs for pilots.
· Overall Purpose of the Position
To research, develop and implement the means to train pilots on aircraft systems to allow pilots to safely operate the aircraft using standardized procedures during normal and abnormal operations.
· Duties and Responsibilities
o Assist in graphics design of lessons, using Adobe CS products.
o Assist instructors in preparation for daily ground training activities, including ensuring courseware is current, the presentation media is operating correctly and all required reference material and distributed materials are available.
o Assist in development of ground training learning objectives.
o Develop and maintain pilot ground training lessons covering aircraft systems, including normal and abnormal operations of these systems, in accordance with FAA, manufacturer and company guidance.
o Create lesson plans and instructor guides for pilot ground training events.
o Assist in development of distributed and supplemental training materials as required.
o Ensure technical accuracy of aircraft systems training content.

Other Learning Opportunities:
Future Pilot Interns in the Flight Operations division will have the chance to participate in other learning opportunities should time permit. This may include observing daily operations with Dispatch/SOC and Centralized Load Planning, spending time in the Pilot Resource Center observing pre-flights and walk-arounds with pilots, attending meetings with the Base Chief Pilot, lunch with various executives, assisting with Charter Operations data entry, observing Inflight training classes, ETOPS or Class 2 Nav training, job shadowing, tours of various Alaska Airlines facilities and simulator time when available. Flight Operations interns will also receive jump seat privileges and unlimited space available travel on Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air.

Application Qualifications:

Students must be pursuing a career as a pilot and earn college credit for the internship. Students will be asked to submit proof of support from their college or university (e.g. transcript or letter) if they are selected as the final candidate.
· Knowledge and Skills Desired
o Aviation background with aircraft and/or ground instruction experience preferred (but not required).
o Basic understanding of aircraft systems theory, function, and operation preferred (but not required).
o Basic knowledge of learning management systems.
o Ability to translate technical theory into learning objectives.
o Outstanding communications skills, both written and verbal.
o Self-motivated with demonstrated problem-solving skills.
o Writing and editing skills to develop technical training material.
o Computer skills using word processing, presentation (PowerPoint), and graphic software (Adobe CS).
o Ability to work independently or as a team member for group projects.
