(I did not get an instant interview but was called for a regular interview 2 weeks later; I found out after I was online that the open house played a big part in this).
Thanks a million for the info. What are the odds I am in the country when the open house is held? Maybe I can VTC the grip and grin.

Is it completely disqualifying if you can't make it to the open house?

Absolutely not. Just another way to get your name/face in front of the recruiters. Best of luck once we do open the window, and thanks for your service!

I think it would honestly drastically reduce your chances. I heard that interviews will be determined from those that attend the face to face open house sessions. I know there will be a lot of B6 pilots pulling for friends. Its the nature of the beast. I know I will be pulling for 2 close friends and some of my friends are on the interview team. I highly recommend that you try to get to MCO, if you are serious about working here. When I got hired I went to a face to face in ATL.

I just checked with my boss. He says I am not allowed to leave Bagram AB. Any chance I can talk Newryflyer into a trip to Afghanistan? Maybe the open house can be moved from MCO to Bagram. I guess not....its the nature of the beast.

I hope that you are given a fair shot at obtaining an interview. There are a lot of ex military people at B6. I think you have to seriously reconnect with your old service buddies. It sucks that you are stuck overseas. Thank you for your service.

I just finished a trip with one of the Captains who does interviews. He got an email on his iPhone while we were walking out of the terminal tonight and said hiring announcement coming Friday with the application window opening by the weekend. Open houses are planned for May 10-14 and interviews in June (not sure of the dates). He said hiring for a pool - no class dates have been announced. He thinks all new hires will be on the E190. Good luck to all who are interested.
