Any info on the minimums? What were they previously? I wasn't in the market last time around and don't remember.

Default Jetblue Mins

If memory serves me correctly their mins were; 1,000 PIC turbine and they wanted a certain amount of time in aircraft of over 20,000 lbs max gross weight, wich cut out all the 1900 pilots, never could understand that one. They also wanted glass time and preferred a 4 year college degree. But yes, within short order we’ll all know what the times are.

In todays airline job market I imagine they want a few Shuttle command trips, a moon landing or two and a Phd in computer science. Or be the love child of one of the chief pilots or a training captain.

And if you're in your 20's then someday you might be able to upgrade to the left seat of a E190.

Maybe the company will throw seniority in the garbage again and hire into the 320.

While I wouldn’t knock Jetblue, per se, they have slid down my list as an airline to target. It all depends on your current situation. If I was furloughed or displaced to the right seat at a regional, then I’d make a concerted application effort, but as a relatively senior regional captain, I’m not giving up my seat for a pay cut, grinding out the next few years in the right or even left seat of an E190 waiting to return to my current pay when I can gamble that two years from now there will be better opportunities to seize upon. I’m keeping my powder dry to fire when the time is right. But again, if I was in a different situation I’d have a completely different perspective. If I lived in one of their bases that could push me over the edge to apply but there’s no way I’m commuting to the right seat of an E190.

Everything I’ve heard about Jetblue has been, well fine. Just fine, not too great, but not bad either. I think the golden age has passed to get on with Jetblue, ok, that can be said about every other airline, but it feels more so with them. No thanks and good luck to all who make a run for it! It sure is great news though to hear they could be hiring soon! Are we rounding a corner?

Your likely going to spend the next 20-35 yrs here if you come over. Mergers, Bankruptsy, Terrorists, ect. aside.

There are guys here that absolutely hate everything about this place and are looking to leave at the first chance. There are also guys here absolutely hate this place and will not lift a finger to make it better or leave. Everywhere has em.

Starting in 2011 t
here are many firm orders of AC that will be coming to the property. The hiring will probably continue for quite some time. Will it be gang busters 100/mo... I seriously doubt it. But a slow trickle of 5-20/mo. is much more likely.

YOU WILL NOT BE A SENIOR AIRBUS CAPT HERE!!! anytime soon. You will not be a senior anything capt anywhere anytime soon either. So that being said, 5-12 yr upgrade is reasonable. Depends on your base and preference.

We just got a whole new FSM and that has yet to be played out in real life. Things are going to change from the perspective QOL of the recent past. Alot of things could change if ALPA gets voted in. This is a fluid environment.

I spent a year in BOS on RSV, it was a great base. I got MCO in year two. I could hold a line but I bid RSV. Usually 4-5 days on. I bid for 6 on and can't get it. Always workin weekends. Actual days of RSV I go to work varies. Some times I work my B@lls off, other times I don't touch a plane until I have to get current. Good with the bad.

Health care sucks, very expensive. I use my wife's.

Over all, I'm happy I came to jetblue.

Thats all I got, and I'm out of beer. Questions?

Off to the fridge.

Depending on your regional and what you consider to be senior, you could equal or exceed your pay by third year even on 190 FO pay. I haven't had a day with more than 3 legs in about 5 months, although that's changing come May. Don't worry, that pesky E190 left seat wouldn't be yours to worry about for at least 5-7 years anyway, but the pay for it is fairly decent (finally). The flip side is you'll stay junior with the associated hit to QOL for quite a while, regardless of pay.

Other food for thought: there is likely to be a bloodbath in the FFD world as contracts are re-negotiated and consolidation happens. It's good that you know what you are interested in and have a seemingly realistic view of the situation; just wanted to clear up a couple small points.
