3M Aviation, an FAR Part 91 Corporate Flight Department, located at St. Paul Holman Field, St. Paul, MN is seeking an individual for the position of Pilot-First Officer

The Pilot-First Officer will be responsible for but not limited to the following specific duties:
  • Acting as SIC of 3M's Corporate aircraft
  • Preflight and post flight duties
  • Assisting the PIC/Chief Pilot as directed
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • 2000 hours fixed wing flight time
  • 1500 hours fixed wing turbine time
  • 750 hours fixed wing turbine PIC time
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) rating
  • Current FAA first class medical
  • 7 years flight experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Valid US Passport
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Gulfstream V/G-550 flight /type rating
  • International flight experience
  • Masters degree
  • Completion of a formal military flight school
  • Corporate flight experience
  • Read, Speak and understand the English language

Where does it say that you needed to have been a military test pilot?

I am from STP and know a number of people at 3M... word on the street is that its pretty much ex-mil test pilots over there... one of those 'who you know' sorta deals...

Lots of former grumman (F-14) folks there. I don't think they have anything against civilian folks, but most of them are military so they have military friends to recommend. I have never heard a bad thing about the place and have visited their operation several times. I can't think of any place I would rather work.

Go on, tell me the ad is a wind-up.

Masters degree, completion of formal military flight school and to read, speak and understand the English language as preferred qualifications. Where are the 10 shuttle and 2 moon landings?

Sounds like a closed shop being nice and cosy for ex-military types if it is for real with qualifications being written by those who have them to attract only certain types. Not always a desirable situation.
