Atlas Air Hiring
18 year Captain. $2,809.67 gross. Just a line pilot, no VX, used some sick leave, conflict bid my vacation to maximize time off. All in all 2016 was a time off/take the pay hit year for me.
The credibility of management is pretty much zero, but these fake facts that are getting thrown around here don't help the Union's credibility either.

I got $160. I get that I'm a 2 year FO but that seems to be a pretty major discrepency

It is a long outdated "thing" that should have gone away long ago. For example, it is only "Atlas" that counts towards it, not Polar and not AAWH as a whole.
My post was simply intended to point that facts matter, and non-facts hurt our credibility.
I think Profit Sharing is a very good thing for everyone. With Profit Sharing, the employees realize that if they do a good job, their company does better, and they get a share of it.
Unfortunately, here at Atlas, we do NOT have Profit Sharing. We have "Profit Sharing". BIG DIFFERENCE!!!
Profit Sharing is as described as above, and helps the company in the long run, and helps the employees.
This is how Atlas "Profit Sharing" works:
AAWH owns Atlas, Polar, Titan, Southern, and ???
Our current contract "Profit Sharing", ONLY includes Atlas Air, and NO OTHER PARTS of AAWH.
ALSO, our contract included an EXCLUSION of much of the profit of Atlas Air! The current contract "Profit Sharing" deal is really, really crappy.
So, here's what can happen:
AAWH sells 49% of Polar to DHL, and the pilots get ZERO, because the money generated was by selling part of Polar, and Atlas "Profit Sharing" only includes Atlas Air.
AAWH decides to buy new planes for Atlas/Polar/Southern/Titan, and uses ALL the net profit from Atlas Air to do so. As a result, Atlas Air "profit" is ZERO for the year, so Atlas pilots get NOTHING from the "Profit Sharing".
In the next contract, I want PROFIT SHARING...that is, sharing the profit of AAWH. That would be very good for the company, in the long run, and good for the pilots. No more "Profit Sharing"!!!

No Profit Sharing!
Atlas will always find ways to hide their profits.
Profit sharing will vanish with the slightest hiccup in the economy.
Give me industry standard (or better) hourly pay and base that on the better of awarded, scheduled, MCPD, or actual on a daily basis.
Then put 16% (no match required) into my 401k.
Then pay us for sick days.
Then pay us 100% for dead head travel.
But they can keep the friggin "profit sharing"!!

The point is that we should save our negotiating capital on pay, bennies, work rules, etc.. Profit numbers can be spun, even if it is based on AAWH. One management bonus payment, an investment, buying another airline, etc.. can turn profit sharing into chump change.
