The most senior base is Houston because they've got trips that go from IAH into Africa and back. Those guys work 6 days a month for 90 hours of pay, BUT by the time a new hire will be able to hold that the contract will be gone. There's only 2 Captains and about 6 FOs who can hold that and the FOs have probably been here more than 12 years. Unless you're in your 20s you'd never be able to hold it as a Captain.

As for the best base that you could hold... In my opinion it's MIA, ANC, CVG, PAE, ORD, LAX, JFK and then HSV after IAH. MIA is very senior and it's a smaller base.

I couldn't say too much about the 767 schedules but from what I can gather it's usually a week on week off type situation.

Were you given the option to wait? HR made it sound like it was 76 or the door.....

The answer is different for everyone based on where you live and what kind of flying you like. I can hold any base as a senior FO. My order is LAX, ORD, JFK, HSV, MIA, CVG, IAH, PAE, ANC.

What's the outlook for guys hoping to hold LAX in the near future, if offered a job?

LAX is a 747 only base. If HR is only hiring into the 76, you may see it after your 3 year seat lock is up. If you get a fallout 74 class, then it would be safe to plan a year or so. For what it's worth, although the JR FO is a 2/17 hire, we just had a base expansion.

Thanks, Cousteau. So, it's more likely for a newhire to see 767 CVG FO then, I assume?

As of right now, yes, the remainder of the hiring for 2017 is due to be into the 767. The junior base of which is CVG.

As with everything at Atlas, this could change at a moment's notice.

With that being said I am trying to get an idea of what life would be like on the 76 living in ANC.

How does gateway travel work? Would I travel on day 1 and home (home being ANC) on day 17? Or will I essentially be working 19 days on because of travel on either side?

Is it possible to bid over to the 74 from the 76?

Any advice is appreciated!
At first it will be a rough QOL on the 767 living in ANC, but once you get some bidding power you should be able to cut days on the road down to 11-12.

You'd be seat locked on the 76 for 3 years. Your first year would definitely be hell, if not all first 3.
Don't lie to guys, working at Atlas is far from perfect but it sure beats a lot of other jobs.

I don't think that's a lie at all.

Unless you've got vacation it's 15 day lines in the off season to 17 days during peak. Add your commute to that and 15 to 21 days is possible.
