You are aware you don’t just apply or show up and get the job?

It could take years. In fact still taking years to be accepted at major. Meanwhile your away from home 17-20 days a month. Bottom of the barrel pay, especially as a new hire - year 3 maybe? CA upgrade. At which point you’ll just barely peak 100k go back to the bottom of the seniority list being gone again more 17-20 days a month.

There are quickly becoming more and more viable options for not only better financial gains but hands down far better QOL.

Do you want to contribute to 401? You don’t get contribution by company unless you do. Deduct another 10% per mo.
And then there is the imputed travel. 300-500 per mo.

So deduct roughly $1000 per mo before you get your paycheck.

That changing rapidly. Do your homework. Not as good as you might think and regionals are addressing a lot of short falls while Atlas is actively trying to degrade theirs further. Regionals have flow through. We have nothing.

Additionally atlas is no performing on contracts. The short false will cost them. Don’t want to be on the short end of a list when downsizing happens.

I did, most regional offer FO position and upgrade in 2 years with some kind of flow agreement. But very few regional have base in ANC and commuting out of there is not viable. For me Kalitta, and Atlas works. Atlas called and put me in a pool. Kalitta, lets see I will see them and meet other recruiters at a job fair in May and go from there.
I don't wanna go to a regional hoping I would get to a major. Flow program is just a carrot in my opinion to feed their business model. You may or may not get to a Major.
And if you are a 3rd CA at a regional, your pay is still under 80K a year.
For me Atlas is a better option than a regional. Atlas has the schedule/lifestyle I want 10-12 days off in a row is better and works for me than 4-5 days on and 3 days off.
If I can make 80K (including per diem) 2nd year and get 12 days off a month, I am happy.
It is not the best option, but works for me I think. Rest will see how it goes in few months and if I hear from anyone. Will be finishing college in 2 months and maybe more marketable as well.

I'm a 4.5 hour drive. Driving really helps because you don't have to use our "Benefit".... Gateway. If you are forced to use Gateway it certainly costs you 2 days a month. 3 or more if you're ANC based.

I'm a 747 Captain, but I was hired in 2011... I'd be lying if I told you that I wasn't kicking myself for not going to American Eagle instead. I'd probably have been at AA for 2 years now.

Still.... Look at it from the perspective of anyone younger than about 35... If you go to Envoy you have a GUARANTEE at AA in 8-9 years. Your pay will probably be better as an FO, but I'm guessing worse as a Captain. You might get hired before your 9 years are up. Worst case scenario if you're 35? 20 years at AA. Retirement in the Florida Keys.

Come to Atlas... Live off a credit card for a full year at 20% interest. Spend 5 years paying it off... 3 as an FO and 2 as a CA. Hope someone calls AND you make it through the interview process. Spend $5,000 on every interview you don't get through. Worst case scenario if you're 23? 42 years at Atlas - or worse if it folds. Retirement working till the day you die as a greeter at Wal Mart so that Management gets a 3rd Yacht in the Florida Keys.

I agree, but the person in question would be a 747 Captain in the top 30% of the Atlas list in their early 40s. I'd say that's a big statement. Nobody's leaving AA to go fly corporate!

Just a heads up, a 2011 DOH at Eagle is still a few years away from flowing. Remember that 8-9 years is best case and that is 8-9 years of a hell that makes working at Atlas seem awesome. The flow was at 16 years a few years ago.
