Exactly.
Kind of sickening really.
Just as sickening as Union encouraged bullying of the new guys not to do overtime.
That’s right, tell the guy who makes $45k on min garantee not to do overtime to support their families and tell them to apply at other carriers.
While you bank > $200k a year waiting for a new contract.

......and on top of that, (unprotected) new hires on probation pay Union Dues and Union Assessment fees from day 1. Roughy $2000 paid to the Union the first year.

This is factually incorrect. New hires are exempt from dues / assessment for the first 60 days of employment (i.e. during training).

Haha! You are correct. My mistake.

CORRECTION:

As a (unprotected) new hire you pay Union Dues and Assessment Fees for 10 out of the first 12 months. Why are dues collected from someone that has no union protection? I paid over $1600 my first year pay and was told NOT to pickup Open Time trips! Funny enough some of these people telling us new hires not to pickup extra flying had UB “union business” on their schedules....after working their 17 days! Sooooooo you can supplement your income with UB but if I pickup a trip I run the risk of getting my name placed on your secret list. 🖕🏻

That's the beauty of these messages boards.

It allows prospective pilots to do some research and see what the REAL DEAL is once you free yourself from the Miami Training and Kool-Aid Distribution Center.

Timing is EVERYTHING. And right now times are tough, but it's not the union's fault.

It's the company who has chosen this route.

Any pilot applicant to Atlas/Southern would be well served to do their research and fully grasp every facet of the work environment.

If the politics of contract negotiations turns your stomach, then you should probably stay away.

You absolutely need to be prepared to survive first year on training pay, then min guarantee.

Personally I NEVER budget my personal expenses for more than min guarantee even when times are good. But I thought that was just common sense.

Class was programmed for 28. Only 26 showed up. That was a 747 class that started this past Monday, I believe.

The guys leaning on first year FOs who are making 65-80 don’t speak for the union. If it’s not an official union message, it’s noise. That includes guys who may have a different colored lanyard.

I’m sorry you had to experience that. Those guys don’t speak for us.

Well that’s before they “won” their court case and were told by the judge to no longer encourage “SHOP” and “BOOT” delaying tactics.
The verdict is floating around on the interwebz somewhere.
Yep, you have 3 years to go to retirement and therefore should be excluded from voting on a contract that determines my future and not yours, you just banked $2.5k on this flight alone and you’re telling the most junior guy on probation they can’t do overtime or else.....
While tugging your yellow lanyard.

That’s rich.
