There will be a shrimp boil Sunday @ 1700ish at the grill for the new hires.

Welcome to the zoo!

We are hearing that this is a short notice DHL Asian contract, hence the LAX base. Two DHL planes with "more" possible. Atlas received FAA approval for a short course last weekend. Things are moving fast!

The 15 pilots this letter talks about, "may" just be the beginning. Very large response in the first day.

There is still the need for 747 classes.

????

The book revision for the short course was approved back in June. May have been approved prior...

It is good for things to move fast, and yes, it seems that the jets are bound for the western pacific.

As a New Hire I never failed to show up for any event at the Casa De Grill, I seem to recall a great time being had by all for a Low-Country boil while I was in class.

Had a LCA tell me that there will be some more Capt. upgrades coming as well, said from 15 to 30 on the 747.

If the LAX base and new 767 rumors do come to fruition, wonder how Sr. LAX will go?

I pack for 4 days and do laundry three times

Pack for about 8-10 days and do laundry at least once...and almost never in Europe (too expensive except for our hotels in RMS and HHN where they have installed laundry machines).

Wow, rumors are going wild these days...like I have said in the past...even if only 50% of them come true, we'll be ok for the short to medium term.

Good luck to those looking at Atlas for a position...

... so that's 12 days. After that we pretty much just turn the tighty whiteys front to back then inside out and voila, you've got 12 more days just like that!

Seriously though, except when prefligting in AUH in August (48c) the uniform shirts last for a while as you will change into your "cruise clothes" at top of climb (however that is defined by the big cheese). PVG has an in room laundry machine sometimes and HKG has a quick/cheap laundry place right around the corner. ANC has a crew room with machines, MIA has machines in the hotel, and I'm sure there are others that I can't think of right now.

As for the temperature change thing ... you'll figure out how that works best for you. No matter what, if you're scheduled to go to someplace really hot and tropical, pack your warm wooly stuff or you'll freeze your pitot tube off when crew scheduling is done entertaining themselves with your itinerary.
