Hello Guys and Gals,
Have you seen the flying declining due to the sequestration? any rumors and/or reduction in military charter flying?
Thanks,
EP

Hello,
Are there any rumors to reduce flying due to budget cuts from DOD?

Greetings All,

After a week of lurking, I've reached the end of the internet...er, I mean this epic thread...so time for my first post. Thanks to all who have posted and passed on their experiences to us hopefuls.

I received the call for the phone interview last week, took the online test and passed, and was offered an interview date of 13 March...anyone else out there interviewing next week?

Stats:
Military; 6000TT; 4000PIC; IP/EP etc; Applied Oct 2012; Phone screening 28 Feb 13, Technical Assessment 3 March 13, Interview Invitation 4 March 13; 1 Internal Recommendation.

Doubled deployed, I'm interviewing on the lucky 13 too, arriving on the 12th, similar stats but corporate aviation 135 and 91. Good luck!!!

Most likely small changes, not drastic ones. The flying into and out of the AOR isn't discretionary....unless they're all coming out.

With more 767s heading to the NRT and additional 747-8s, I am going to go on a limb and say we're doing well.

At my flying club? Hours are way down, budget is shrinking, and moral is at an all time low. Go AF.

Hi guys,

Could anyone shed some light on how an non-us citizen might find the commute from Australia? I've searched the forums on the relevant information, though to no avail.

Specifically, positioning to gateway cities, deadheading/jump seating on Atlas flights ex & to Australia, tax considerations etc

We have several folks that live hither and yon. Some in the P.I., some in Dubai, several elsewhere. Bottom line is that if you don't live in the U.S. it's your responsibility to get to your base (or the location from which your trip starts). Some jumpseat and some buy tickets. We do fly freight through Sydney but the Qantas runs are notorious for being a moving target mostly due to changing customer requirements. I can't speak to taxes, though. Someone who actually does this will have to chime in about that.

Some actually live in Dubai? By choice?

Fascinating.

Wow, amazing that your world-view is so narrow...that other places in the world can actually be worth living in.

Check out the link below...could expand your horizons a bit. Sorry, I couldn't resist...
