On the upside his marriage, ver 1.0, survived and he still has his house.

Of course if he had stayed at Atlas, which would have looked really stupid, he would be a senior Captain. But along the way he would have skated on the edge of seeing Chapter 7.

We are all just little mammals on the highway of aviation. Road kill is both a very common and a very random event.

So step up to the table and roll the dice.
When did we skate on the edge of a Chapter 7? We went into a controlled 1113 process, there was never a 7 contemplated or pushed by the creditors.

Perhaps you could explain your views better and back them with facts over undefinable emotional comments? It's fairly obvious you don't know the man or his background.

My understanding may be wrong, but I was told by two people who were fairly close to the process that it was a much closer call than the public face that Erickson put on implied. In any case the need to resort to Fresh-Start Accounting speaks volumes about the situation that the company was in.

On the other hand, one could easily remain low on the list at Atlas with less than 500 retirements in the next 18 years! The legacies are each retiring more than that nearly EVERY YEAR during the same time frame!

Unless there is significant growth or a mass exodus, eight year upgrades are not on the horizon for the junior guys, more like 15+!!!

As they are passenger planes, I would be suprised if this has anything to do with Atlas. Why wouldn't Etihad pilots fly these?

Well, they need to hire for 5 more 777s with this announcement. And they also operate 3 777Fs...and are already a customer of ours. You've heard the rumors of the new fleet type, right? How do you quickly solve a pilot manning shortfall with the stroke of a pen? What company seems to like CMI agreements? Yeah, maybe you're right. This can't possibly have anything to do with Atlas. Disregard.
