Default Atlas Air Hiring

Good sir, let me be the first to say read the thread. It is not mandatory, but a great way to get a basic level of understanding of the Atlas culture. Best of luck!
PS-ANC goes extremely junior; new hires are usually placed there...I was.

Is it difficult to hold the ANC base? Thanks
If you are hired into the 747, you will go to ANC. It's half new-hires and half very senior f/o's.

However, as the aircraft seniority sorts itself out, the new hires will most likely go to the 767 in the near future.

Good Luck!

I'm not so sure about your last statement...there is no way to support a small fleet of 11 767s (currently), and meet new hire requirements, if the company keeps growing...AND keep to the CBA requirement of the 3-year freeze for new-hires. There just simply is no way to satisfy both of those without hiring into another aircraft type (747, 777, abc, xyz, etc) if there is that much growth.

I agree that the 767 should become the junior aircraft, because there are many dozens right now that have been involuntarily held on a lower-paying aircraft while a more junior pilot is on a higher-paying aircraft...in fact, (since first-year pay is the same for both aircraft), every 767 FO past his 12th month is being financially harmed by this deficiency in our CBA.

I brought that point up when I first saw it in the CBA.

NOBODY seemed to care.

Potentially TWO years of a more junior person have MORE earning power than a more senior person.

Remove the word "potentially" and you've got it right.

It doesn't hurt the senior folks on the seniority list -- why would they care. It's only a $15/hour pay raise

Right you are, Carr...I wrote a lengthy proposal to the ExCo at about the time the most senior 767 FOs were reaching their 12th month. I did receive an audience at the highest level, but was also told that they will consider the proposal, and discuss it with the company at a later date...

Trust me, we all appreciate you guys at least bringing it the attention it deserves. I hit second year pay next month (wow, it's been a year already?!), and being that I already credit 70-75 hours/month in CRT regularly, the $4/hr pay increase won't mean much.

Some quick pilot maths show a difference of ~$30,000 in earnings over the 2 years seat locked on the 767 at a lower pay rate (based on 75 hours/month).

25 months to go...

Thanks for the response, I have been reading the thread about 75% complete so far lots of good info. Good to know ANC is a junior base, is it then able to held for an extended period of time like duration of career? I would rather sit right for 20 years here in ANC then spent x amount and bid left seat at another domicile ASAP. Also how does Atlas feel about doing "part 91" flying on days off as i fly floats and supercubs off airport for huting guides, not a necessary to keep doing but it is fun flying for me as it keeps the stick and rudder skills sharp.
