To a man, when I ran into them in following years they said, "You know, I make a lot more money now but it's not fun any more. It's just a job now.". Whether this would be true for anyone reading this is hard to say. If one is miserable in their current job then it makes complete sense to look elsewhere. If one is enjoying life and just wishes for a larger paycheck then moving on and actually getting that larger paycheck may come at a cost. Each person must decide for themselves if that cost is worth it.

CBA negotiations can't come soon enough. IMHO.
+1 Still having fun!

I know of three that have been hired by Delta within the past month just awaiting a class date at the beginning of the year.

Just to be clear for the poolies this is not a growth airframe. It's most likely the -8 doing the Atlas South America network finally being placed. I could be wrong but I don't want people to get their hopes up on this announcement that we will need to run classes because of it. Hopefully some growth soon.

As pool members we can hope... However, I have a few questions... Is the company staffed based on # of jets or the amount of work? I would assume it is amount of work as that would seem to make sense since they would be paying folks to sit around. So as a wannabe might this mean there is more work for the same #of folks? If so, maybe this generates a requirement for a couple more crews? Obviously a few of us hope so. -rmr

Probably not. The plane is flying daily already. It probably just means more revenue for the company. Because its in HKG and not MIA you could be right that it might require an extra crew member or two to staff it but that's above my pay grade. With retirements and attrition there will be classes soon.

I would rephrase that by saying the it is more predictable revenue for the company...because having an aircraft on an ACMI contract means the customer pays for a minimum number of block hours per month.
