Congrats on being in the pool.... just a reminder that the "pool" is racked, stacked and reshuffled after every set of interviews... unless the pool is totally emptied (which it has been several times in the past) it is possible to remain in the pool for quite some time while others proceed to class ahead of you. Congrats again and good luck.

The hotel has a great gym, decent pool. For class, you need business casual during the week and you can wear jeans on the weekend. Bring down some laundry detergent if you want. Bring some kind if backpack or messenger back to carry your tablet and stuff. A lot if guys packed their lunches during the week, or went down to a little Cuban restaurant.

You will get some great handouts and if you get Linda as an instructor she is great at preparing you for the oral. If you have any specific questions about class feel free to pm me.

Congrats and welcome aboard. I finished OE January 6th and have been on R1 since. They say this is the slow time. All the crews I have flown with are great.
Great post...

Something to consider for those going to Miami from the Eastern part of the country...it might be handy to have a car while you are there. The hotel allows free parking for Atlas pilots/students.

Several disclaimers...
1. Park in the hotel parking lot at your own risk...if your car is nice, leave it at home. If it is like mine (at least the airport commute car is), feel free to take it to Miami.
2. Having a car is a nice distraction from the routine of the training center, the hotel, etc...but that distraction has caused disruption for some, as the night life in Miami is world-class!!

Good luck to all...

Got the call for a class as well. Looking forward to the change. It's been a long run in regional hell.

They don't matter. Light twin, heavy time, RJ time, heavy RJ time. CA, FO, military, civilian, 1500, 3000, 5000, 10000+ hours. Atlas has considered and hired all kinds of pilots that meet the minimums. Read this thread and if you are serious about the opportunity, study for the test.

Good luck, I got the phone call twice. First time I was totally unprepared for the phone interview and was scrubbed out. 2 years and 1 job fair later they called again. This time I had done my homework and I will soon be going to MIA.

Its been said before but I know it helped me, go to a job fair. The resume they were using during my interview was the one that I had turned in at the job fair. I know this because they hand wrote the name of one of my references on it while I was burning through my 60 seconds of face time.

I would also work on your elevator pitch. It was my first job fair and I was not prepared. Frankly, I was suprised to get the call at all after my performance. I due believe if I had done a better job there I may have gotten a phone call as much as 6 months sooner.

Good luck.

Just to enforce that point: I'm a relatively young, relatively low time, corporate guy. Heaviest airplane I've flown is the DC-9 (about 1000 hours in it).

My interview group had mil tanker guys, regional guys and gals, former acmi pilots, 121 charter pilots, a guy from a 121 major, and one other corporate guy. So you just never know.

Just got my call. I'll be there on the 24th of February. This is the culmination of so many things in my life since I first flew a Cessna when I was 12!! I'm so happy to have this opportunity and to be a part of Atlas!
