Our complex operating environment simply doesn't support this hiring practice.

The blood will be on the FAA and Atlas Executive's hands....

Completely preventable and sad.
Sad that we all saw this coming but we were ignored. With absolutely nothing changing at the company and management going on like it is business as usual, it looks like we can expect the same result again. People need to be put in jail.

While that might be true......wouldn't the Sr. Execs just have had them fly around in the empty 737's until they got more experience. After all it justs costs AAWH a couple thousand an hour to fly empty 737's.

Or maybe it should be nationally publicized that Sr Execs were so informed and through their incompetence and/or gross negligence they allowed this to happen and it could happen again.

Default Well

I've been told that they really don't want experience. The accident will change that as who s going to fly all those jets that are coming? I am interested but yes, the terms and conditions have to improve.

Still about 1740 on the seniority list. I forgot what we started the year with, but I think we've about broken even in terms of hiring v. attrition. Someone with older seniority lists can do the math and come up with more precise numbers.

31Dec17 - 1583
31March18 - 1681
30June18 - 1744
30Sept18 - 1722
31Dec18 - 1724
31March19 - 1754

There was no hiring from 7Aug18 till 26Nov18. There were 39 hired in the Nov. and Dec. classes so it looks like 37 left the last quarter of 2018. We lose one or two a month to age 65 so about 10 a month bailed the last quarter or 2018. In the first quarter of 2019 there are 83 new hires for a net gain of 30. Taking out the age 65 folks it still looks like the bailout rate has doubled this quarter over last.

Thanks for the reply. Its gonna be interesting how attrition will be for the rest of the year. I’ve heard a class in July and the next one in December for the 747.

Or live in CVG or ONT on the 76, or some other special scenario on the 76 where you’re doing hub turns with outstation layovers where you live. You’ll get some extra days off at home on layovers in those cases so quality of life is better but you’re still paid well below industry standard and have no contractual protections guaranteeing those in base layovers will hold up. Or in the case of 76 outstation layovers no guarantee that route will stay with Atlas, they sometimes swap things around between DHL and Amazon contractors.

What makes living in ANC a pro besides the non commute part? Is there opportunity for trips that layover in ANC so you are home more often during the 17 days a month?
