I don't believe this is the case.
Right now UPS is up to about 180 out of the 300 new-hires they officially announced. Reserves have been working, JAs are happening regularly, and schedules are tight. I can see no reason why hiring would stop short of the previously announced 300.
Also, rumor has it that this official 300 figure will soon go to 500.

Can confirm!!! Spoke to PD personally last week and he confirmed they were waiting on approval for another large class towards the end of July. He also confirmed that they are trying to shrink the pool, so while they're still interviewing, they slowed it a bit so as to draw down the pool. I tactfully agreed with that mindset, stating that we don't want to lose good pilots to other companies while they're languishing in UPS' pool. He said they should get approval by the end of the week on the class (which was this past Friday).

Seems they (UPS) is having that second class in July. July 25th is what I am hearing. Also read about having about 70 in the pool with 200 in hired so far. With 300 hundred the number and they are still interviewing, looks like I will be in the pool for a LONG time. Time to forget and move on. Oh well, life was going to be great. But for now it will just be the same.
