For comparison, my old man was telling me a few weeks ago:

The yard stick back in the day for a senior captain at a major airline, was that his monthly salary should be equal to the price of a new cadillac.

They've got a long way to go....

Things looking up?? Are you kidding, unemployment is %10 percent, 60 minutes actually reports it at %17 when you include people who have stopped looking (people past the 99 week cap), underemployed (brain surgeons working at 7-11) and the unemployed.

Government regulation, taxes, national debt, health care, global warming scam, all freaking small business out so there is no hiring, people are saving money (which they should be) because they dont know what the future holds. All of this adds up to no recovery anyplace in sight.

No, things are not looking up. and I'm an optimist. ;)

I've seen more "openings" lately on some of the websites I use for 135 guys and instructors? I think things are slooooowly starting to turn towards the better?

Just because Fox News is ON 24 hours a day doesn't mean you actually have to watch it that long. I hear they're selling Bomb Shelters on QVC now, you may want to check it out instead some time. :D

Things are getting a lot better, I got a buddy on the hiring board at Colgan and he told me they are running out of qualified candidates, and I got another buddy over at Eagle that told me the same thing, that is why they dropped from 200 to 100 ME. I wish I had my 100 ME, I would be there tomorrow. Any one else with input it would be great, I got my 50ME and 1000 TTL.

Hi!

You may think that things are not looking up....and airline HR personnel all over the world agree...it is getting more and more difficult for them, as each month goes by, to find enough suitable candidates.

That is why many aviation organizations have had to lower their minimums, and change their hiring practices. Part of the reason that HR depts are having more and more trouble, is that more and more organizations are recalling and/or starting hiring...that puts more pressure on the total pilot group, and who is available for hire, at what price. The growing UAV (unmanned planes) hiring is also negatively affecting the aviation HR plans.

Anyone know if a lot of the regionals tend to hire guys (gals) with their CFI's? I've got 1950 TT 111 multi but not CFI and haven't heard a peep from anyone.

You will. Yes, someone will hire you, it's just a matter of when.
