guys you need to think about this as well, almost everyone is recalled since 08 and not many new guys have come into the game, so there are not that many people out there, look at the new comm pilot numbers over the last 3 years, there are very few, and many people from regionals have/are moving on, so I am not sure why everyone is so surprised. You also got guys out there skipping the regionals, like the guys making 1000 a week flying twin otters 4 days a week with jumpers and going home at night.

Those are minimums, which is different from what is currently competitive. But yes, there are airlines hiring at minimums and even below minimums right now.

Our trusty administrators dutifully track much of the relevant data to this question already and put it online (link). They are very good about updating the info every few weeks, and a date stamp is provided on each page so you know how fresh it is.

Yet people, for the most part, were getting hired near or above the minimums. Eagle if you look, people are getting hired around 1200-1500TT 100-200ME. These are clearly not those furloughed street guys. I wonder what caused that, cause I am sure there are still quite a few furloughed pilots on the street. Do they choose to not apply to these regionals or are the regionals choosing to not hire them and instead go with the lower time pilots (lower as in 1000-2000, not 5000-20,000). |

In my recent class at ASA, we were the first class of the street in about 2 1/2 years. We only had 3 XJet folks in our class of 24. About half of us had over 2000 hours. There were about 5 furloghees from other airlines. Surpirsingly, I think only one of them had in excess of 2000 hours, and I think 2 of them had less than 1500! The higher time guys all had multiple interviews and job offers (Eagle, Pinnacle, GoJet, Commute Air, Colgan). The highest time guy had around 6000 hours and was a former Trans States Captain who had gone Corporate for awhile. Over half of the class had no former airline experience, and half of the folks with no former airline experience only had CFI experience. All but 1 had an internal rec.
That being said, the single most important thing you can do, after you have close to the minimums, is network and find someone to walk your resume in! Otherwise, keep doing what you are doing and you will eventually get a call from someone since, from what I have heard (only rumors, of course) the hiring pool will drain quickly over the next year. |

They hire the low timers cause they know they will be around for awhile. A friend of mine has 4,000 jet pic has applied to all the aforementioned and has not received one call.

Thank you to all the people out there who actually answered the question without any rude or unnecessary input. I appreciate the responses and information you gave to my question and will do the same for anyone who asks.
Of course the rude Den post or the jump to conclusions post by Luv2rotate are not helpful in any way and not that it really matters, but I am not "a spoon fed" person as you say. Hopefully neither of you have a simple question to ask of anyone in the future as I personally will not respond to anything more you post. |

Unless you were too lazy to browse this entire website and all of the information it offers, then what you did is ok!! |
Ladies and gentlemen, please remember that (1) things can happen very quickly in aviation, so a careful search of this site may NOT actually reveal the most current information and (2) there was once a time when we were all new on this site and may not have known the best way to comb through the mountains of information found here. Either of these two could be acceptable grounds for the aforementioned question. Remember that one of the primary purposes of this board is Pilots helping Pilots!

How's your training going at ASA? Do you think you made the right move? |

re:
"Asking a question, even a basic one, is a skill. I commend you for asking the question for help in hiring. It's just shameful that there are some of our fellow pilots out there that are so quick to slam you. They need to grow up and help our profession. For its people like them that do nothing but bring it down. Good luck in the job search."
Sure, but the question did come across as extremely lazy, considering all the available information out there. To me, it conjures up an image of someone who just doesn't care and isn't really motivated. "Hey, give me some info, as I don't want to be bothered to spend some time searching myself" is what I interpret. Sorry OP, if the image doesn't match how you really may be IRL, but it is what it is and the deed is done. Just understand that it may be insulting to those who go online and spend hours or days researching on their own, before discussing job specifics, to have someone just come in and ask others to just hand them over some info. That being said, good luck on the job search. |
